Aaishah Francis

BS Biochemistry, Hunter College

Born and raised in London, UK; Aaishah came to the US and was just as quickly abandoned by her husband. She was unable to study and had to clean houses to sustain herself and her 4 kids financially.  About 9 years ago, her eldest son, Al-Haarith, suffered a cardiac death while playing on his school playground. This event, among others, motivated her to complete her education. However, being 7 months pregnant at the beginning of school only added to the challenges. She persevered and—in spite of various challenges—is well  on her way to completing her undergraduate degree in biochemistry. This will not the end of the road for Aaishah's educational career, but the beginning, as Aaishah aspires to attend medical school to become a physician.
